What’s Your Mantra?

I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase “thought’s create.”  The thoughts we have rolling around in our head influence our day in ways we don’t often understand. And not just our conscious intention thoughts; our self talk and unconscious ruminating thoughts also have impact.

stressed outIt’s funny how the mind can play tricks on you.  The other day I had a dentist appointment in the morning and 2 afternoon sessions. My mind kept repeating “I’m so busy” like a mantra over and over and it was starting to build an internal frenzy.

There are lots of things I want to do, lots of things I’d like to do and perhaps that I feel I need to do – and being crazy-busy on the inside isn’t one of them!   In actual fact, I had about 3 hours of time commitments and the rest of my day was mine to decide where I wanted to direct my time and energy.

But that’s not how it felt in the inside.  And it wasn’t true; it was completely a mind construct.

When I caught myself saying “I am so…”, the aha moment set in and I immediately and consciously replaced the idea of busy with “happy.”  And I am happy! I just couldn’t access it because of the story I was telling myself.

Needless to say “I am so happy” became my new mantra and I noticed a big shift in my energy field, in my energy level, and how I felt inside. Suddenly there was more joy, more space and a playfulness bubbling up.

The rest of my day went so smoothly… my 3 commitments flowed, I easily managed to do my meditation and yoga routine, and even completed the podcast edit that was on my to-do list. All without pressure!  That’s the power of your unconscious mind –  it can be your best friend and help you transform your world!

So… what’s your mantra?

 

Are you focusing on the good things in your life or on the things that create stress, self judgement and hardship?  Pay attention to your self talk. Instead of some old story that you tell yourself over and over, change it up to something that feels good and you might be surprised at how your day shifts.
