The alarm clock rings. You jump out of bed. Get dressed. Grab a coffee. Maybe some breakfast. And prepare your body for another day… Then head off to work to sit behind a desk or a computer, or in some other way fill your day with repetitive tasks. Come home. Have dinner. Watch some TV or spend time online or on your phone until it’s time for bed. And then do the same thing tomorrow.

Is your life this mundane? Doing the same thing over and over again hoping for change… that’s insanity right?

We know that thoughts create. We can dream the dream; energize it with feelings and emotions, but then what? Hope the Universe hand delivers our dreams on a silver platter? Dreams without actions are simply just wishes.

How do you make your life a little more interesting? How do you initiate change? It can be challenging to think outside the box if your life is rather routine. Here you are, surrounded by intrigue, adventure and the wonders of creation, yet perhaps are blind to it.

There is nothing like changing your perspective to bring some fresh ideas, creativity and excitement to life. It’s easy enough to do and it’s as close as your mind.

Hone your sights on one particular thing, and really focus in on it, paying close attention to its minute details. Calm the mind and just observe.  Things are fascinating when we really look at them, especially things from the natural world.

It’s easy to enjoy the beauty of a flower in bloom or the intricacies of a tree leaf when you actually look at them.   Really look.  It doesn’t take long—only seconds, although you might want to stay longer because of the sheer beauty of it.  When you start to entertain microcosmic moments often enough, it becomes much easier to connect with the awe of creation.

Or perhaps you’d prefer the big picture?

Sit for a moment and imagine what the view of your world looks like from above. Pretend to float high above your body and look down. This bird’s eye view will give you another perspective. Things look much different from up there. This exercise can show you places that look dull and drab, or open you up to opportunities you might have missed.

It can even help you make choices. Float up and look down at your life as if you were living the decision you are considering. Compare it to the view of your life as it is now. If you have more than one choice to consider, do this for each option. Try to set your conscious mind over to the side while doing this exercise.

Instead of thinking logically about pros and cons, just be aware.  Notice how they make you feel.  Notice the scenery—does it feel comfortable, scary or exciting?  Is it bright, colourful and vivid? Or is it dull and boring?  If it’s grey and fuzzy, personally I’d choose the option that has more life and vitality to it!

One thing for sure, if things are becoming a bit tedious for you, it’s time to change things up a little.  The Universe loves action.  If you can take the even the smallest step to initiate change, the Universe responds! Including consciously changing your perspective!  From there you might be surprised to find guidance and inspiration.  Then it’s time to take some action steps toward making your dreams reality.
