How to Stay Centered When the World Feels Unstable

So far, 2026 has been a force to reckon with… globally, tribally, and individually.

Several years back, my guides said about this time that “no soul would be untouched.”

It was exciting to think that we were on the doorstep of rapid transformation (silly me), and that no one would be left behind. I wasn’t quite picturing it like this…

With a childlike sense of wonder, I imagined the frequency of the earth shifting vibration, the hearts of mankind lighting up, and a door opening to a new way of being.

I totally spiritually bypassed the upheaval that massive change causes!

I think my guides were right—no one will be untouched. From wars, political and social strife, economic uncertainty coupled with inflation, and the rapid advance of AI — the world is changing before our eyes.

And when the ground shifts beneath our feet, it’s natural to feel disoriented, uncertain, or even overwhelmed.

But times like these also ask something deeper of us. They invite us to grow stronger internally, even while the external world is in flux.

Here are three things that can help you navigate loss, instability, and change.

1. Anchor yourself in the present moment.
When the mind tries to solve the entire future at once, anxiety quickly follows. The nervous system settles when we bring our attention back to what is actually happening right now. Take a few slow breaths. Feel your feet on the ground. Ask yourself: What is truly needed in this moment? Often the next step becomes clearer when we stop trying to control everything at once.

2. Tend to your inner world as carefully as your outer one.
When the world feels chaotic, our thoughts can easily mirror that chaos. Notice what you are feeding your mind. Limit the constant stream of alarming news if it leaves you feeling powerless. Spend time in practices that reconnect you with your center — meditation, prayer, time in nature, journaling, or quiet reflection. The more coherent your inner state becomes, the more stability you bring into the situations around you.

3. Remember that transformation often begins with disruption.
Every major shift in life contains an element of loss — loss of what was familiar, predictable, or comfortable. Yet disruption is often the doorway through which new possibilities arrive. Instead of asking “Why is this happening?” try asking “What might be trying to emerge through this?” That question opens the door to growth rather than resistance.

We may not always understand the larger unfolding while we are in the middle of it.

But we can choose how we walk through it.

And sometimes the most powerful contribution we can make to a changing world is simply this: to remain steady, conscious, and open-hearted while everything around us is shifting.

You might be more prepared for these times than you realize!
