Is your energy working for you—or against you?

We often talk about productivity and strategy, but we rarely talk about the alchemy of our internal state.

On Exploring The Mystical Side of Life, I sat down with Rosio Aquino and Angel Orengo to dive deep into why so many of us feel trapped by invisible patterns and how to shift into a state of higher vibration. In this deeply personal conversation, Rocio and Angel share the experiences that shaped their spiritual awakening, from childhood wounds and limiting beliefs to discovering a new way of seeing themselves and the world.

We discuss how personal struggles can become catalysts for growth, why many people resist change, and how healing begins when we become willing to see life from a different perspective. You’ll hear powerful insights on overcoming victimhood, breaking free from old patterns, learning to trust yourself, and finding the courage to step into your authentic self.

Angel Orengo:  I’d rather walk through fire for a few minutes than carry the weight of my hurt and my trauma the rest of my life.

Linda Lang: Hi, this is Linda Lang from ThoughtChange.com. We are Exploring the Mystical Side of Life once again. This week, we are talking about very personal aspects of transformation and the spiritual awakening that is happening to so many in our world today. I have spiritual teachers Rosio Aquino and Angel Orengo with me. Welcome to you both.

Angel Orengo: Thank you so much. Thank you for having us, Linda. What a pleasure to be here and what a pleasure to be in these times that everyone is awakening in different ways and how we can really help them to activate more these paths of consciousness that we all have.

Linda Lang: I just want to say that that’s a beautiful shift in perception because that’s not how most people are looking at this time. They’re struggling with change, but it is part of that awakening process, right?

Angel Orengo:  Yeah, I think, you know, this reminds me of a video that we saw of a teacher speaking to her audience, her kids. And it was more that point when you start to feel really uncomfortable, don’t fight it. Lean into it. That’s the growth. And so I imagine that a lot of what’s happening is really that shift in all of us where we are saying, “Right, ah, what is this that we’re living?” But that awareness in fact is also a symbol of something greater which is you’re realizing it, you’re noticing it. Therefore, you’re at a different vibration and a different energy. Embrace it and sort of go into it and see where it takes you because I promise you the end of that, it’s so amazing and beautiful because I know I’ve experienced it. I believe we all have. Just lean into it.

It’s kind of like the divine gifts that are built into the struggles. There is a gift for going through those challenges. It’s not all for naught. There’s a line in our book that says, “I rather walk through fire for a few minutes than carry the weight of my hurt and my trauma the rest of my life.” And so I think that’s what we’re all being invited to do is to—yes, it’s going to be challenging, not difficult. Because “difficult” sometimes insinuates that it’s almost close to impossible. Challenging because challenges are things that we’re used to overcoming. And so that’s the invitation. Lean into it, go through it. I promise you that when you heal the wounds, you’re no longer at the mercy of anything else around you. Because—and this is a saying we have—when a woman (you can say a man as well) loves herself fully, she’s no longer at the mercy of external forces, because she becomes the force. And that’s the invitation.

Linda Lang: Challenges also have an applied assumption of growth, right? Difficulties not necessarily the same. So tell me how you started on this path of becoming spiritual teachers.

Rosio Aquino: I began in 1985 when my mother in Mexico, she lost everything with that earthquake. So at one point she lost her—she lost faith for life because she was a single mom with four kids and all the properties of what she has, she at one point become with anything. So I saw a beautiful human lost her life, her spark, and she died. And since then is how you can help people to feel better about their situation and shift consciousness. So it took me 40 years.

And really when I begin to act and see, for example, Angel—a person who he was always looking for a glass full and in my case I was trained to be a victim, to see the glass always empty. And you are against in that moment when I begin to understand all these concepts, really I was able to do the alchemy inside of me to really shift consciousness. And now the beauty of this is that I can explain to people how they can really tap into the emotional body and release the energy for them to really begin to find what is harmony.

So I became my best friend at 50. So now that I know how to transmit this information, I see my kids—19 and 17—going through life with the sets of tools for them to have a different experience. The challenge happen, but they take it from another perspective. And that perspective is something that we are really trying to transmit to more people for them to get it and to celebrate.

For example today, Linda, I wake up and when I saw Angel in front of a window and seeing the sunrise, for me the only thing that I was is like I was feeling grateful. Grateful of seeing all of my life. And then I was celebrating with him to say, “You know, I’m so happy that we were out of the matrix of the game or whatever—a rat race.” Because really I have my own challenge, he has his own challenge, but at the end when you are out and you begin to see how incredible is our life, all the blessings that we have, the abundance that we can live in—that moment is like we are the winners. And that’s free for everyone to have. And that is in a nutshell 40 years of difficulties, experience, trial and error, how you do it, but finally when you get it—oh my god, how incredible it is that we can want to share this with the world.

Linda Lang: And it’s easy and not easy at the same time. It’s like people have their blinders on and they see something so narrowly and define it so narrowly, and that definition keeps it locked for them. If they could just switch it, you know, turn it a little bit, a whole new possibility opens up for them, right?

Angel Orengo: Yes, and it’s really profound. One of the things that has been really helpful for us was first doing it together. That helped, that was tremendous. We have a deep respect for each other. And after 25 years—or 23 years, because this is when it started a few years ago together—it helped that we had worked together, that we had shared so much, that we had traveled the world. So there was a certain amount of awareness that started that fed, if you will, that.

But where it truly started to happen is through curiosity. And Rosio had that curiosity more than me. I was very content with life because I had an incredible amount of wisdom. I couldn’t explain it, I couldn’t tell you where it came from, but it was there and it led me. It was sort of my main GPS, even though sometimes I veered away and made a lot of silly, stupid mistakes. But I always somehow always recognized that I had veered away and I needed to come back to some form of center.

She was at a different place, just looking. And so at one point something happened where we invested a lot of money, lost it all, and I was able to let go of that feeling. And she would ask me, “I need to let go, how did you do it?” I said, “I don’t know, but can you just let it go?” Cuz for me it was that simple. And it was her curiosity to say, “I need the ABCs of that. The ABCs of forgiveness.”

And that led us down a path where we just started to experience, to learn, and we started to see perhaps the most important thing: how ideas rule our life. You know? And it’s ideas that come from religion, from society, from experiences, from our parents, from everything we’ve lived. And sometimes, you know what’s the worst thing I ever said? It was, “This is how I am and I’m never going to change.” Because when you close the door to change, you’re basically saying nothing that happens outside of me is relevant in my life. And that’s not true. We are a result of so much. And so when we opened ourselves to that process, it really was beautiful and we started to change and to observe it in each other.

Rosio Aquino:  And you know, Linda, only to add that that is beautiful when you trust—when you trust yourself and when you begin to see something in other people. Because really you receive feedback from the universe all the time. And at one point I saw that Angel—I didn’t have it clear, but I saw that he was with chains. I was chained, I wasn’t my full self. I didn’t see it on me but I see it on him. And at one point I didn’t have the words to explain. So that’s why we went to different teachers and healers to help us to really free ourselves little by little. Because the answers of this beautiful puzzle is not in only one way, is in different pieces from different places. So we need to access and be conscious that we ask: “Show me the next, show me.” Because it’s going to come to you.

So that was something beautiful to see somebody who is brilliant today but was not in his full potential. And neither I. So the beauty of doing this together was to really respect each other in a difficult way but understand that it’s a journey that we can hold together and really hold the space for the other one to try something different and expand. And now that we know how to do it between him and I, we are doing it with our kids and the circle only expand and expand and expand. And is something that we want more people to see—the two normal persons who they were totally in the game of life, winning because we were successful, but really we were empty without the connection. And we came from broken families, sexual abuse—like a lot of stories that hold you back to who you are and really doesn’t allow you to really break free to experience yourself in another way.

Linda Lang: And now you help other people to release their chains and step into their authentic selves. How do you do that with other people? It gets different with your kids because they’re around all the time and they learn by example and also, you know, you can have conversations and the relationship just can blossom. To teach that—it’s a little bit different when you’re working with people because you have them for a short time.

Rosio Aquino:  Some of the things that we are helping for example now in the book is to inspire. Because if you begin to see another way of thinking, you understand that another human is doing it, so it’s possible for you to do it. And that’s why storytelling is really powerful. Because then you begin to see the characters in a novel, how they transform themselves and how they change from victimhood, for being not enough, from a lot of trauma. And to see how they can get inspired. And people who are reading it, they begin to feel, “You know, it’s possible.” Because we understand in the moment that you begin to think about it, you can send the signal to your body to begin to act in another way. So you begin to have a connection with your heart and from there you begin to send the signal to your life to begin to create something different. So is this connection of the reason to the heart and from the heart to the reason, and then you break the circle.

Angel Orengo: I was just going to say when we started writing the book, what we really wanted to do was put on paper—or at least that was the human intention—to put on paper what we were experiencing and the things that worked for us. And so for us, it was five lessons: Awareness, Gratitude, Forgiveness, Acceptance, and Intention. When we dove into those five, it transformed us because it started opening doors and shifting energy and cleansing.

And so that’s what we wanted to do. We said, “Oh, so if we can help other people connect with these five energies, five lessons, five tools, then maybe we create a space that allows them to go inside of themselves with the tools so that they can do the work, so that they can do the change.” I think one of the biggest challenges we have is that people say, “Tell me what to do, help me get rid of this.” And “The Orchid”—this fictional place that one day will be real, but right now a fictional place—is inside of you. And all we really do is create a container of love, of non-judgment, and of possibility and curiosity so that you can say, “Okay, I feel safe in this environment, I’m gonna go inside and deal with what I need to deal with—with that baggage, with that spine that I need to remove.” And it is in that process that you find your strength because ultimately it is you who does the healing. People only create a space for you to be able to go inside.

Linda Lang: So you have both mentioned your book. It’s called The Orchid: The Secret Code of Modern Goddesses. It’s a beautiful, beautiful book and I’m really glad that you mentioned those five codes because they’re things that we all know, we all recognize, but we probably don’t understand that they have a metaphysical purpose to help us shift our lives.

Angel Orengo: The five codes, if you will, that unlock the power within from this perspective is:

  1. Awareness: Observing yourself fully and asking yourself the question, “Why do I think, talk, feel, and act the way I do?”
  2. Gratitude: The power of seeing the beauty and everything that surrounds you. Focusing on what you have, not on what you don’t have.
  3. Forgiveness: Letting go. Reclaiming your energy by cutting ties with the energy that bogs you down from the past.
  4. Acceptance: Making lemonade with lemons. Or finding the beauty on the things that you have. Not thinking about them as if they don’t exist, but accepting them and figuring out a way around them. Because an olive tree is an olive tree; it will never give you lemons, right?
  5. Intention: Lastly, when you recover that energy, the last is what do you want to do with all this brand new energy that you now have to live life? Our recommendation is that you go after your dreams—whatever it is that is the most authentic to you. Because when you go into that authenticity of experience, which is and should be attached to an incredible amount of joy and happiness, you elevate yourself to the highest energy possible. And that is the meaning of life—for you, for Linda Lang, to experience herself fully as Linda Lang. For Angel and Rosio to do the same. And that’s how we shift the world.

Linda Lang: Beautiful and so true. We all need to step into who we really are. One of the ways you did that was through the book that you wrote. You said you had a conscious purpose when you started the book, but that that book actually sort of took on a life of its own, became a channeled book. Tell me a little bit about the experience of having the book write itself through you.

Rosio Aquino: You know, was absolutely fantastic how when you begin to ask, things are given to you. So at one point is “How I can help right now in these times? How I can bring more?” And I really be true to your heart. And at one point through dreams came an idea and the idea is like a “Why don’t you share this with the world?” And it’s like a, “Okay.” So I went to him and it’s like a, “Why don’t we do a TV show for people begin to see another way of thinking?”

And today, Linda, is very easy to tell you that the book has awards—several—that is liking, has the energy. But at the moment when you are living those kind of moments, you are not clear. You need to trust, really, that everything is going to present. Because what happened to us were little miracles, were guiding us to do it. Even though that we are nobody—only two beings who they want to help. And at one point, probably because our heart is pure and we have the intention of how we can help, they say, “Okay, I’m going to give information.”

So little by little, “Ah, you’ve arrived, it’s finally here. Finally you’re here, we’ve been waiting for you”—it’s how it felt. And maybe it’s a remembrance that we came to do only this. And you need to pass all this challenge to go to try to say to people, “You know, if we pass—it was very difficult, our story—but now because we pass, it is like a you can pass that information.” But at one point you have two parts of the coin here in front of you: somebody who saw the life with a lot of wisdom and somebody who was totally asleep. And really is funny now because he was lighting through life and I was—all the obstacles happened to me and it’s like I was observing him for so many years. That was possible and I was like, “But tell me how.” And the “tell me how” came after.

Angel Orengo: But I want to add to that because what was interesting, it was a sort of a symbiotic relationship. I understood myself fully, obviously through all the processes and courses and books that we read—over 200 in a span of two years—but it was observing her and observing how she was experiencing the shift in her. Because I would say—I would close my eyes and I would say, “I don’t feel anything, there’s a knowing but I don’t feel anything.” And she would say, “Oh my gosh, and I feel it right here.” And she would point to wherever in her body it was stuck. And observing each other experience each other started opening doors.

And so those little miracles that happened showed themselves. One day for example, we’re having a conversation with a dear friend and she goes, “Oh, I have someone who’s helping me write my book.” And we’re like, “We need that person.” And it turned out to be the person who helped us after we wrote for six months, seven months—helped us to organize characters and stories, you see? To make people understand when they are reading the story what they are gaining is a guide for life.

We wrote a chapter about a woman who was a widow because we felt that what a loss to experience the loss of her husband. And in a dream at some point after this chapter is entirely done—by the way, it’s months of work went into it—Rosio gets up and says, “I had a dream last night. She’s not a widow, she’s a divorcee.” And it was, you know, it was a tough day at work that day because we’re challenging each other and saying, “But we just finished!” And there was the human in us: “But we need to finish this, we have deadlines!” And it was then the spirit in us that said, “But what the world needs right now is this other example because there’s so much of that happening.”

So we can go on and on, there were so many instances in which something directed us in a different direction. Another instance for example: we finished the audiobook in Spanish, we got it back and we didn’t connect with it energetically. And it’s, “Can we save it?” And it was like, “No, let’s do it again. It doesn’t matter how much you’ve spent on it, do it again. It needs to be at the right energy, otherwise it will not serve the people that it’s meant to serve.”

Linda Lang: That’s probably why there are so many spiritual teachers too, because not everyone can hear it from the same person. They might hear the same message a hundred times until it clicks, right?

Angel Orengo: Yes.

Linda Lang: Thank you both for joining me today. Yes, this was really special.

Angel Orengo: Thank you so much.

Linda Lang: Where can we send listeners who want to learn more about you or explore the book?
