How Free Are You?

I run a Shamanic Journey group two Friday nights a month. Journeying is great fun, and provides a great opportunity for healing, transformation, self discovery & spiritual understandings.

Recently we journeyed out into the Void, also known as the Ether or Akasha, or in Huna – the I’o.  I received a very interesting message in my journey, which I’d like to share.

When I arrived in the Void, it was black with some purple swirls. It seemed like being out in space without stars, a space that had nothing, yet everything in it. A huge eye appeared and Ihelix-nebula-11155_150 travelled through the pupil.

There was this huge being, a male with wild & crazy hair, who presented me a gift. He gave me a giant golden birdcage, with an arched top and a carrying handle.

The golden bars that made up the cage were like very thin wires from the front, but from the side, they were quite wide. The bird cage was much bigger than me; in fact I could go in it.

I was very apprehensive about entering it, afraid of being caged or boxed in & having my freedom restricted. The being told me the cage held freedom, and I was a little confused because in my mind, it was the opposite.

But I entered the cage and the door closed behind me. It didn’t lock, and I could easily open it if I wanted to. In fact I was small enough that I could fit between the bars if I want out.

This cage could take me places – like a portal, so I asked to go back to Ancient Egypt, which it did. I found myself in a caravan that was travelling across the desert.

I watched things flash by… thinking how cool this cage could take me places like a time travel machine… and then it was time to come back to my starting point.

Thoth is my journey guide who I consult with after every journey for clarity or further guidance. I asked him about the symbology of the bird cage. He said that I really didn’t need it to access Akasha.

There was a pause and then he said, “You are as free as you feel you to be.” He said it almost like a limerick. Then I received the understanding that freedom is a state of being, a state which we have complete control over, depending on what our thought patterns construct and how we react to it.

There are many ways out of that perception, if we want to be free. You can feel trapped outside a cage, or know freedom within a cage, it is completely within your mind and state of feeling.

You are as “trapped as you feel you to be…”  Or you could easily say the same for feeling as poor, as blessed, or whatever…
